Irony, Day #2

Apparently, I was a week too early.

Don't worry, Wes, I'm all done with my pity party. No need for cussing, the moment has passed. Perspective found. (Whew!)

Went for a run last night that nearly kicked my butt. A lousy 3.2 that was brutal due to the 150% humidity. But, as always, it's better to know you can do it at all then get stuck with your training pants down on race day.

Speaking of race day...did I mention that I have a race. Like this weekend. As in Saturday of this weekend.

No?

Denial is a powerful thing. A powerful, powerful thing.

I'm going to have to think about my goals for this. Some really sharp knee pain last night only 20 minutes in and the serious change in training plans this last month may mean I need to scale back my goals. Before I declare, I'm going to see how tonight's swim and tomorrow's bike go.

I mean...it's only an Olympic, right?

...

...yeah...even I don't buy that.

The Chik-Fil-A link made me laugh though I'm glad you got re-centered so Wes didn't have to drop the F-bomb on you. Hope the knee pain doesn't keep you from enjoying your race this weekend. Go Able Go!

Good luck! Glad to hear the pity party is over. What part of PA do you live in? Anywhere near Pittsburgh? I want to take a biking trip in the area, just wondering if you can recommend anywhere.

Hi! I can't even remember where I found the link to your blog. I'm from Oxford, PA. We played Downingtown in sports in HS. Now I'm in Memphis TN doing triathlons too and about to do my first IM on July 20th. Did you ever write the rest of your IM Wisconsin race report? I'd love to read it. I think I need the camaraderie of other first timers to get me out of my nervousness this week!

All the best in your upcoming Olympic race!

This weekend?!?!?! Whoa man - crazy how it sneaks up, huh? I had some of those humidity runs, and they are no fun - but even though they may stink in the moment, at least you get through them.

P.S. I noticed you blocked comments from the previous post, which I now just read. Question - what is a chik-fil-a?

but more importantly, i have been going through that a lot lately too. I can usually tell my the fit of my clothes how big/small i am, and lately i seem to be really poor at what i perceive my size to be. so I will see pictures and be like, "Ugh, maybe I was slouching" or "it was just the lighting."

I have my days where I wish I was this twiggy like my sister and I feel like a GIANT in pictures next to her. But then I will look at a picutre of me at a race, and try to appreciate tht, no matter what my hip size may be, I am still strong and athletic, which most days is better than being twiggy.

And as for the wedding pictures - Ables, you are going to be stunning even if you wore a burlap sack and had me attached to your backside. STUNNING.
