Where art Thou, mojo?

I've lost my mojo.

There, I've said it.

No major drama -- I'm sure I left it around here somewhere. I looked behind the couch and in the recycling bin. Nothing yet. Although bulk trash was Tuesday. Crap.

I can't seem to get into the groove again.

This morning? Beautiful, sunny, cool. I had all my gear laid out for a morning run. One that had to happen because I may have evening plans to do a dress fitting and veil shopperoo with the FMIL. One that had to happen because I was stuck at work late yesterday, got bogged down at the grocery store getting ingredient for (another delicious Ellie Krieger recipe) dinner, and missed ALL my planned workouts. Scratch that....*skipped* all my planned workouts.

Erg.

Just have to start from where I am and work forward. As usual. Part of what is making it hard to get out there is the knowledge that it just plain hurts more when you step back into regular training. It only lasts a week or so, but I'm being avoidant. I don't want to hurt. But I do. But I don't.

And so goes the conversations I have in my head at 6:45 when the sun is up and I should be running.

This morning was not a win. Time to turn things back on, or around, or whatever.

Girl! Just get out there and move!
I know it's hard but did you read Elf's blog yesterday about baby steps? Baby step it out of bed. Baby step it to getting dressed. Baby step it out the door. Baby step it down the block, to the next block...and then, oh look! You're running!

I feel you on this one. I'm constantly stressing about workouts I should've put in, or ones that I still need to, or ones that I should've done that morning because now my night would be shot. Guilt, guilt, guilt.

But you know what? We do this for FUN, and if you skip three days -- or three months -- of workouts, it's not the end of the world. You're getting mar-ried. This only happens once in your life (one hopes)...so ENJOY it. You have the rest of your life to do early morning runs.

It's easier said than done, and I'm constantly trying to take my own advice on this one, but as the wise ELF said today, just *breathe*...and then go out and get a pretty, pretty veil that makes you look and feel like a princess. :)

I've found that when I lose my mojo (and we all do from time to time) the only way to get it back is by force. Toss yourself out of bed and get out there and after a few days you'll start to feel good about that and voilĂ ! you'll find your mojo right where you left it.

I am so not one to dish out any advice as I struggle with being about the most on-again, off-again athlete ever - but I'm sending good "go get 'em" vibes your way. I do subscribe to the theory that investing yourself heavily in lovely experiences like wedding planning, cooking beautiful food with/for the man you love will ultimately give you more of the best parts of yourself to bring to the training table.

Well, planning a wedding is no easy thing!

If you have your priorities straight, everything will fall into place!
