Keeping healthy

Y'all know how much I love my coach. She's changed the sport for me and opened me up to a million new skills, angles, insights, and abilities. And it's only April.

If you didn't know, in addition to her faaaahbulous blog, she also has a website devoted to her coaching business, Multisport Mastery. She posts really helpful things on training, recovery, and the head games that triathlon can plan on even the most unassuming of athletes.

Take, for instance, this week's article on staying healthy. Some excellent advice. Check it out.

You all know how happy I've been working with the Elf -- it's all chronicled here. So you already know I'm very, very biased. But I just wanted to nudge those of you who read my little blog here, who don't already work with someone, to consider hiring a coach. I cannot say enough how I have progressed leaps and bounds with my coach's help. I approach my training and my racing with more confidence and my fitness has never been so strong.

Since the season has just started and you're likely refining your schedule for the year and, maybe, searching through online training plans for justtherightone (dude, you know you're doing it!) ... just consider coaching. It's an investment in yourself that pays great dividends. And you already know, of course, who I would recommend. (wink)

Yea, I would like to hire her elfness. I may actually get up the courage to breach the subject with the boss today...

Excellent decision and it is paying off-even though I think I am testing her with my 'I am a headcase' drama:) She is FANTASTIC.

It's so important to have someone that you trust too! In this sport, we can really have some "mental moments" :)

I'm so glad that you are doing SO well. :)

Well I wish you'd posted that how not to get sick thing last week - I could have banned my germy child and spouse from the house and not be sniffling now

I definitely second the kudos for the Elf's training. She has been great so far and super responsive to all of my questions....even the most annoying ones! I LOVE that she trains you for the mental game of the sport as well as that part is often overlooked in coaching and certainly in on-line training programs.

Ditto!
I have only been working with Liz for a month now but I have already noticed a HUGE difference in my fittness and training.

She challenges me every day. She seems to know my breaking point and keeps the workouts just below that.

I agree! And while ELF isn't my coach, she's a great friend. I would (literally) bust my butt for her :). She has helped me out so much, given me lots of great advice, and really took me under her wing. As a coach, friend, fellow athlete - wonderful. Thanks for this post - our coaches don't get enough props for what they do!

The Elf is simply the best. She knows when to kick my a$$ and when to take it easier on me. She knows the right buttons to push to help me stay motivated. She also makes me feel like I am her only athlete and she has all the time in the world for me. That takes a special talent I don't know how she does it.

A coach would make me stop eating all the crap I love to eat. So....maybe I need a coach....
